Suzanne Freeman-Pike Road Way- A Tale of A Candidate For Nat'l Superintendent in a Common Core World
Who Pays When The "Suzanne Freeman-Pike Road Way" Loses Children??
What can you say in the land of plenty, the land of opportunity when you waste a child away?
All because you trusted your child to an education school system that you thought would help your kids. You feel as many parents in America have been feeling since 2011...something's not right in America's education system and it has finally hit home.
Here's a must read story about something that went horribly wrong in one of the wealthiest districts of Alabama where Superintendent Suzanne Freeman was one of the most acclaimed in the Superintendents Circle (2009 top state superintendent and one of four finalists for the National Superintendent of the Year award given by the American Association of School Administrators. )
Even though Suzanne Freeman was one of the top paid superintendents ($202,000 per yr) the school board had to let her go in front of 500 Trussville, Alabama's very concerned parents (with a $600,000 contract booty) and off she went to a new beautiful land (and indeed Pike Road is beautiful) to herald the Pike Road Way. http://blog.al.com/birmingham-news-commentary/2012/07/our_view_trussvilles_school_bo.html
But, according to this incredible, and excellently researched article that is like a breath of fresh air from Bill Rice..."Whether or not Dr. Freeman was encouraged or forced to retire is not yet known. A story published in The Advertiser said her decision was a God thing and had to do with the health of her parents and her desire to travel more, as well as finish a book and do consulting work to advocate for the spread of the unique features of the so-called Pike Road Way." So who pays for mistakes that leaves children's education in turmoil? All of US. Because when we allow innocent children to suffer- and generations of them--we as a nation suffer.
So how do we correct it? We start with the very basic. We start asking questions-find out some of the answers here.
There is so much to learn because there are so many facts now that shows Common Core (aka College and Career Readiness) has been used to dumb down America's children because the standards were developmentally inappropriate (as warned by over 500 Early Childhood Expertswww.wptv.com/news/region-st-lucie-county/students-asked-to-sign-document-not-to-talk-about-test-to-parents). It was too rigorous for the early grades, confusing, led to kids feeling stupid and killed desire for many to learn, to excel. Also, use of SEL (Social Emotional Learning) by kids at very young age was harmful mentally and the dependency on tablets or cell phone use is now found to be harmful to elementary age children. By middle school, kids more confused because of the sexualization being forced upon them through Obama's friend's-- Planned Parenthood Sex Ed Programs and others. And in High School--students are damaged and many are disconnected even with their great American Heritage (the envy of the world), because of the inappropriate teachings that taught them more to be ashamed of America and less to be proud of America.
So today you now have these Common Core kids and as one mental health expert exclaimed at the beginning...she warned that Common Core will raise generation that is easily triggered, easily manipulated vs independent thinkers...she said remember the Arab Spring? Well in America we call them Snowflakes...
Sorry for the summarization, but you can research more--Common Core Diva is an excellent resource and has plenty more. There are plenty of facts out there but please make sure at the end of this that you say a prayer for your child. It would be well to teach these words to them... I am sure the Founders did and it made all the difference.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Deuteronony 6:5
It seems- can't trust voters and it's too hard for superintendents. I think this was not the Founding Fathers intent and most loving parents do not want their rights taken away to help their children have a better future. They work hard so that their children can have better and this is a process that was intended to protect that. These senators need to be reminded that yes it is hard--but life is not easy for you either. Let's follow the Constitution--it is the best way. Maybe we all need a reminder of why education came about--here's the first education law...
Take a look at what has been passed to really put parents in the dark--a governance bill that stops public from hearing dissenting views of the local school boards (school board members can be sued otherwise) and now a move to let the county superintendents be appointed instead of being voted by the people-it's probably happening in most states. http://alabamaschoolconnection.org/2012/03/29/school-board-governance-improvement-act-of-2012/
Well this tale of the Suzanne Freeman Pike Road Way ought to be a reminder--these Associations such as State School Boards have had a lot going their way (Governance bill)--too much. We must do our part and study and elect our leaders. It is time to take back what's good for our children and families...and it starts with having our right to vote. BTW if you live in AL-please subscribe to the Alabama Gazette--they are one of the few newspapers worth reading ...
